klik is the easiest way to install software on Knoppix-based live CDs, even while running from CD. Just go to the klik website and install any package you like---by clicking!

Because each software package is completely contained in a single compressed .cmg file, you can easily save it or delete it, without causing problems for any of the other software packages.

Although the programs and files you download with Knoppix/Snøfrix would normally disappear when you shut down the computer, you can save the programs you download with klik in one of two ways:

  1. Save the individual .cmg files on your choice of storage medium.
  2. Create a persistent home directory. Then all of the .cmg files will be saved automatically.

With either of these methods, the programs will be available to you even after you restart the computer.

klik is still a project in development. Like most experimental software, it does not always work. But since you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, we recommend that you try it!
