In a relatively small setup, with just a handful (small or large), you can easily bypass using a dedicated backbone switch, and just use a crossovercable to connect the firewall with the combi-server.
 | Just beware that when you put the printer on a thinclient 192.168.0.0/24-network, the hostname printer00 doesn't work. Also make sure to edit the KDE Printwizard so that it searches the 192.168.0.0/24-network for printers, not it's default 10.0.2.0/23-network. |
